People sometimes steal strange things, like a historic Half-track military vehicle taken from a national forest in Utah.
But what is even more strange is the explanation for its sudden return two months after it was stolen.
As the saying goes, truth is often stranger than fiction, and this story seems to live up to that claim.
According to an official press release from the US Forest Service, the unidentified thief and his attorney contacted the federal agency for the Half-track's return.
That man told officials he intended to restore the historic vehicle, nothing more, and that he thought it was considered abandoned property.
Otherwise, the vehicle was being held in the Dixie National Forest in late June when it suddenly disappeared.
The half-track is a military transport vehicle used in World War II. /Telegraph/
