A hat that belonged to the 19th-century ruler of the French empire, Napoleon Bonaparte, has sold for 1.9 million euros at an auction in Paris.

The buyer of the hat has not been disclosed.

Otherwise, he owned about 120 hats, of which only 20 remain.

"People knew this hat everywhere. When they saw him on the battlefields, they knew Napoleon was there," said auctioneer Jean Pierre Osenat.

“And when he was alone, he always had it on his head or he had it in his hand and sometimes he threw it on the ground. This hat was the image - the symbol of the emperor," he added.

As it is known by the media, in addition to the hat, other items are also included in the auction, such as a silver plate and a wooden bag filled with razors, silver toothbrushes and scissors. /Telegraph/
