The largest Byzantine church in Albania is restored

The monastery of "Saint Kolli" in Mesopotamia constitutes a monument with special history and architecture, overlap of cultures, architectures and histories.

The church, the largest among the Byzantine churches preserved in Albania in the c. XI-XIV and among the oldest architectural monuments, it has been restored highlighting exceptional historical values.

The Church of Saint Kolli existed in the beginning as a pagan temple and the Church was built on its ruins. This Church is thought to have been built at the time of the Byzantine Emperor Constantine IX Monomachus. /they/
