Goalkeeper Di Gregorio, from the transfer to Juventus to the invitation of Italy - he does not forget Inter, the past time and the support of this club

Michele Di Gregorio has expressed his happiness from his first invitation to Italy and shows how he is improving day by day since his transfer to Juventus.

The goalkeeper made the big move from Monza to Juve in the summer at the specific request of new manager Thiago Motta, sending Wojciech Szczesny into what was supposed to be an early retirement pending a move to Barcelona.

Now he has been invited with the Italian team for the upcoming Nations League matches against Belgium and Israel.

"I have always said that the number of great goalkeepers that Italy has is extraordinary, so I am very happy at the first invitation."

"I'm looking forward to helping, making myself available to the coach and the team. I started in Serie C at the age of 19, then three years in Serie B, I climbed to the top league with Monza and then with Juventus."

"Someone believed in me more than I probably believed in myself. I would say that it has been a continuous process of growth, wanting to constantly prove myself in the next step", stated Di Gregorio for Rai Sport.

While Juventus started the Serie A season with a run of six games without conceding a goal, that was broken at the weekend with Cagliari when the game ended 1-1, with the goalkeeper conceding a goal from the penalty spot.

"The coach wants a team that follows his ideas. It requires a certain mentality and that drives us to never let the level of focus drop," continued Di Gregorio.

With Szczesny gone, Juve have a name in the squad like Mattia Perin and that allows competition within the group.

"I always work to be available to the coach so that he can make his decisions. Mattia is a great goalkeeper and a great person, so it's only right that we push each other day by day, to improve ourselves," stated Di Gregorio.

Although he is now at Juventus, Di Gregorio came through Inter's youth academy and was sold to Monza for €6 million in 2022 after an initial loan spell.

"I went through the Inter academy from start to finish and I met good people, they were also by my side when I lost my father. I really like the people I met there," declared the goalkeeper. /Telegraph/
