The doctor warns: You should not give this fruit to the patient, it can cause an infection

A mistake we've all made with the best of intentions

When someone is in the hospital, the rule has been established that it is always "good" to have a fresh fruit, full of vitamins and minerals, by the bed, to strengthen and improve immunity.

There is no person who has not sometimes sent a sick person a bag of oranges to the hospital. They can stay at room temperature for a long time and are full of vitamin C, which is necessary for strengthening the body, Telegrafi reports.

There is always an alternative

However, doctors warn that we are making a big mistake in this way. Oranges are, in fact, a bad gift option for a person who is sick, and here's why.

Dr. Andrej Prodeus, pediatrician and immunologist-allergist warns about the dangers of these citrus fruits.

He emphasized that microorganisms accumulate in the large pores of the orange peel, which can cause secondary infection to the infected person and cause complications.

He advises that it is better to send another fruit or, at least, choose a variety that has a smooth skin.

"In terms of sweetness, thick skin corresponds to the sweetest varieties, while smooth and thinner skin corresponds to the least sweet varieties," notes Dr. Prodeus. /Telegraph/
