Health experts around the world are keeping a watchful eye on the rapidly spreading "Pirola" strain of Covid.
Scientifically known as BA.2.86, the variant, a new spin-off of Omicron, is alarming experts because of the 35 mutations in its composition.
Epidemiologist Ilir Alimehmeti told Euronews Albania that a higher circulation of this infection is expected in the fall, with the same symptoms.
"All variants of COVID have the same symptoms, it remains like any other variant dangerous for the elderly. As many variants as there are in the end the same one becomes dominant. When it comes to hospitals, it is another matter that the vast majority of the population has passed this disease. We have natural protection that most have passed once and the second is vaccination", Alimehmeti said. /Telegraph/
