It's no secret that weddings can be really expensive, but one Los Angeles couple found a way to keep costs low on their big day.

Kiara and Joel Brokenbrough were able to pull it all off for just €463, which is well below average, according to a report last year by wedding planning website The Knot.

"Our goal was to be as minimal as possible and spend as little as possible," Kiara told Good Morning America.

The bride and groom said they were able to do just that by putting a huge focus on staying out of debt early in their marriage.

To kick off their wedding on the cheap, Kiara started with her dress which she found on the website of digital fashion retailer Shein for just €44.

"I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a dress because I had the mindset that I would wear this once for a few hours," she said.

When it came to cutting costs for the actual wedding, Kiara recalls having gifts such as flowers and more from her family.

The couple also managed to save money by finding an empty spot on one of California's freeways. Guests also paid for their food and drinks at the reception.

Kiara explained that to pull off a budget wedding, you need really supportive loved ones. One of her biggest pieces of advice is to find a venue that's cheap and beautiful so you don't have to spend money on decorations. She also mentioned that through it all, couples should remember their ultimate goal, which is marriage. /Telegraph/
