The agent of a Juventus player has revealed how he 'rejected' Liverpool's offer despite the Premier League side offering 'more money' than the Serie A club.

The Italian giants put in a superb performance as they ran out 2-0 winners against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Several stars emerged in the match in Turin, with Dusan Vlahovic and Weston McKennie getting on the scoresheet as City were unable to respond.

Although the Italian giants' efficient attacking play was praised by many, their goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio kept the likes of Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne at bay.

Di Gregorio has had to make his name the hard way.

He came through the ranks at Inter and had four loan spells - at Renate, Novara, Pordenone and Monza - before penning a permanent deal with Monza in the summer of 2022.

The goalkeeper impressed in Northern Italy, which earned him a loan move to the country's most successful club, Juventus.

The Old Lady are likely to sign the player permanently as they have an obligation to transfer him this summer - with the fee expected to be around €18.5m plus add-ons, according to Calcio Mercato.

However, things could have been different. The player's agent, Carlo Alberto Belloni, revealed how he said no to Liverpool last summer.

"Manchester City fans will surely remember his performances for a long time," he told Italian newspaper Tuttosport.

"However, in the summer, we said no to Liverpool to agree to the Juventus project. I am very happy that Michele has shown all his value also at international level."

"Some matches are special and his performance against Manchester City is one to remember. If I think about when he played in Serie C, I get emotional. He won everything with talent and hard work: I'm proud of him," Belloni added. /Telegrafi/
