The Mexican government announced today that customs officers and soldiers stopped and seized a shipment of 5,775 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine at Campeche Airport in the Yucatan Peninsula.
The manufacturer of the vaccines, the Russian fund RDIF, claims that these are fake vaccines, reports ABCNEWS.
Mexican authorities say the vaccine shipment was seized before it was loaded onto a private plane.
It is believed to be headed for Honduras, and the "cold chain" of the vaccine shipment has been preserved, while the origin of this shipment is being investigated.
On the other hand, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) in a statement expressed gratitude to the government of Mexico, customs and its armed forces for "seizing the batch of fake Russian Sputnik V vaccine against the coronavirus." /Telegraph/
