The Premier League explains why Martinez was not sent off for the rough tackle on Palmer

PGMOL - the English referees' governing body - has explained why Lisandro Martinez was not shown a red card for his tackle on Cole Palmer.

A super goal by Moises Caicedo made the challenge between Manchester United and Chelsea end with a 1-1 draw after the penalty realized by Bruno Fernandes.

With a minute left in the challenge, Lisandro made a dangerous tackle on Palmer's knee.

VAR referee Michael Salisbury reviewed the incident but to everyone's surprise, he ruled that there was nothing dangerous about the tackle.

After the incident, the Premier League released an official statement to provide more information about the incident.

"The referee gave Martinez a yellow card for a tackle on Palmer. VAR analyzed it for a possible red card and confirmed the referee's decision not to give a red card, considering it was not a serious foul," the Premier League explained.

This decision of the referee caused many reactions on social networks after the match, as even the legend of the 'Red Devils', Roy Keane, said after the match that Martinez was lucky not to be sent off./Telegraph/
