The company "John Deere" presents the tractor that can work the fields without a driver

Agricultural equipment manufacturer John Deere has launched its first automated tractor that can work the fields without a driver.

According to the BBC, Telegrafi reports, the machine can be activated by 'smartphones', using cameras and sensors to operate on agricultural land.

Rather than a new piece of equipment, the automated functions are a suite that can be added to some existing tractors.

However, John Deere said it has not decided whether it wants to sell the kit directly – and is considering a rental or subscription model.

The company is not the first to launch automated tractor technology, but it is among the largest manufacturers of agricultural equipment in the world.

The new set presented at the CES technology exhibition uses six pairs of "stereo" cameras to monitor the surrounding area. /Telegraph/
