The Indian complained of abdominal pain and bloating - doctors removed a 3-centimeter cockroach from his stomach

A strange case was registered at the "Fortis" hospital in New Delhi, where a 23-year-old man appeared. He complained of stomach problems for several days, so he underwent tests.

The patient explained that he had consumed fast food at the local market and suspected that this was the cause of his health problems. He had no idea what kind of surprise awaited him.

Doctors decided to do an endoscopy of the upper digestive tract, and then discovered a cockroach in the small intestine, reports Business Insider.

It turned out that a three-centimeter-long bug was to blame for the pain, indigestion and bloating.

"A cockroach in the small intestine is life-threatening. We proceeded with an endoscopy to remove it. Otherwise, it could have caused severe infection and potentially fatal complications," said doctor Shubam Vatsia.

In the published video, Dr. Vatsia explains how a team of experts effectively removed the cockroach and saved the patient, reports PTI News.

The gastroenterologist speculates that the insect may have entered the young man's mouth while he was sleeping, or was swallowed while eating.

This unusual case, however, is not unique. Last year, world media reported sensational news from Australia, where doctors removed a live worm from the brain of an unidentified British woman (64).

Although this is the first such case in the history of neurosurgery, medical experts have previously removed animals from patients' bodies. /Telegraph/
