Albanians in the north left aside, lack of security and unemployment continue to be a challenge

The north of Kosovo continues to face numerous challenges, while the lack of security and unemployment are making life even more difficult for the Albanian citizens there.

Security experts say that the north of the country is facing many problems, starting from the lack of security, organized crime, smuggling, physical barricades, non-free movement of Albanian citizens and many other issues, which are still being addressed. be a challenge for the state.

The expert on security issues, Avni Islami, in a statement for the Telegraph, said that in the north of Kosovo there are tendencies for worsening of the situation.

According to him, this was also seen on the day of the elections, when criminal groups or the Serbian secret services tried to insert remote-controlled bombs.

Professor Islami said that this represents a general danger for the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.

"In the north of Kosovo, there are trends and it is being noticed that the situation has started to worsen, not only because of the elections where certain criminal groups led by Serbia tried to insert remote-controlled bombs, which in fact pose a general danger to people. Criminal groups maintain a monopoly in the north of Kosovo. They transport drugs, weapons, etc., and are directly connected to the state of Serbia. They keep the situation tense and every time they need to present the fragile situation in the north of Kosovo, they undertake reckless and dangerous actions that in a synchronized way beat, loot and then damage property", said Islami.

He also said that not only the Albanians are tired of this situation, but also the Serbian residents living in that part of Kosovo.

"The security institutions in the north of Kosovo are still far from being the main actors in maintaining security in the country and public peace in the north of Kosovo", said Isami.

Also, another connoisseur of security issues and also a resident of the north of Mitrovica, Florent Azemi, estimated that the security situation in this part of the country is fragile.

He said that Albanians in the north of the country no longer have any faith in local institutions.

According to him, the Haradinaj government should deal seriously with the north and take care of the Albanians of the north, just as Belgrade takes care of the Serbs.

Since Albanian policemen are also present in the north of the country, he said that in the eyes of the citizens, they do not represent professionalism, and for this he says that the police in the north of Kosovo must be reformed.

"Policemen who are currently from the Albanian community must be reformed because in the eyes of the citizen they do not have professional qualities. In the north, in addition to reforming the police, their number should also be increased since they are not meeting the requirements for multi-ethnic neighborhoods. The police in the north serve the daily politics and what is worse, we have a very small number of Albanian policemen in the multi-ethnic neighborhoods", Azemi assessed.

He highlighted another concern, which according to him, is the total unemployment of Albanian residents, where according to him, social assistance has been stopped for some.

"On the other hand, every Serbian family is stimulated by Serbia with social assistance which has the quality of a salary in Kosovo. The Albanians are not allowed to return and rebuild their houses in the north, while the Serbs build collective buildings non-stop", he emphasized further.

Meanwhile, the resident of the Bosnian neighborhood in the north of Mitrovica, Denis Çaushi, in a statement for the Telegraph, expressed his concern, saying that the situation has worsened significantly.

Çaushi said that the lack of security continues to be a challenge.

As a resident of the north of Mitrovica, he said that they have agreed that the Serbian community should be integrated into the institutions of Kosovo, while not leaving aside the Albanians who live in the north of the country.

"Security still remains a challenge because it is primary for a state that calls itself a state. Another challenge is unemployment. We have been in agreement that the Serbs should be integrated into the institutions of Kosovo, but not leaving aside the Albanians of this part. The unemployment of Albanian residents remains the second concern after security, because unemployment also makes life difficult in this part. The Serbs have many reasons why they stay in the north, because they have support from Belgrade, while the Albanians have been left aside by the Kosovar institutions for four years", he said.

Çaushi also sends a message to the institutions of Kosovo that, as a minority in the north of the country, their right to employment should be respected.

"I also address these problems to the municipality of the north, namely the mayor of this municipality, Goran Rakić, where I invite him to respect the rights of Albanians in this part and to be equal for all nationalities", said the resident of the north of Mitrovica , Denis Çaushi. /Telegraph/
