Poetry by: Ismail Kadare

Some raindrops fell on the glass.
For you I suddenly felt longing.
We both live in the same city,
And we rarely see each other, so rarely.

It seemed a little strange to me too
How come this autumn, this morning.
Dark skies without storks
And rains without rainbows in between.

And the old saying of Heraclitus
What the hell I remembered today:
"The wise are together in the world,
But the sleepers are apart".

In what dream have we fallen so badly,
That we are not waking up soon?...
Some raindrops fell on the glass
And I didn't feel longing for you.
