The effects of high sugar on health are more than well known by now. Diseases such as type 1 or 2 diabetes are caused by this ingredient, which is present in everyone's diet.

Experts show that sugar has negative effects on the health of the brain and mind.

Lower blood sugar levels, in turn, are associated with better brain health, according to new research from University College London and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

The study published in the journal Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, to which it refers AgroWeb.org, shows that keeping sugar levels under control is linked to the prevention of mental illness.

Experts report that people diagnosed with prediabetes who have high blood sugar levels are 54 percent more likely to develop mental illness compared to people with normal blood sugar levels.

In fact, prediabetes is seen as the most dangerous period to develop this disease because of the various reactions that occur in the brain.

Doctors say that high sugar levels, even if they are not chronic, cause inflammation. Over time, this inflammation of the brain, if chronic, affects faster aging by affecting diseases that affect the mind.

Sugar causes the vessels to narrow, harden and leak harmful chemicals, thus causing what is called vascular dementia.

These studies are still early, but show a clear link between sugar and brain damage. Experts suggest that you always keep your sugar levels under control to avoid all the dangers it brings.
