Arousing great debate in the field of fashion, Balenciaga drops the lawsuit against the production company

Balenciaga said on Friday it would drop its $25 million (23 million euros) lawsuit against the makers of an ad campaign that sparked a major fashion debate.

The fashion house filed the lawsuit a week ago against a production and set design company after its spring 2023 campaign included documents from a Supreme Court case about child pornography.

The brand also faced backlash for a separate campaign that showed children carrying teddy bears in 'bondage clothing'.

Balenciaga sued production group 'North Six' and set designer Nicholas Des Jardins after an ad allegedly featured tableware in the background and false legal information from a prop house.

Representatives of North Six and Des Jardins denied responsibility, and there was also an outcry from fashion professionals saying the parties should not be blamed for a company's advertising.

"I want to apologize personally for the wrong artistic choice of the concept for the gift campaign with children and take my responsibility," the designer wrote.

"It was inappropriate for children to promote objects that had nothing to do with them," he continued, adding that while he wants to "provoke thought" in his campaigns, he "would never intend to do that with one thing." so terrible as child abuse". /Telegraph/
