SOME THINGS THEY POINT US AND LAUGH

SOME THINGS THEY POINT US AND LAUGH

Poems by: Emanuel Carnevali
Translated by: Maksim Rakipaj

Some things
hide from people's eyes
and are heard
how they cry with sobs.
Some things fall from the sky:
black, shapeless, monstrous things
of night and horrors
of days.

Some things seem to have been decided for us
from God and the Devil.
Things that seem to have been born from the abyss
and on the ground they grew.
Some things have the appearance of goodness
like fire
to have carved them in bas-relief.
Some things laugh until they become skulls
and then continue to shrink.

Some things are like peach trees,
green fruits give long time.
Some things are like the veins we drink
except to get drunk.
Some things hit our heart
like the ringing of bells,
then they continue to echo.

Some things make our hearts flutter,
like a cockroach.
And it's terrible, like the rattle
of a cockroach with legs.
Some things are like lightning:
can be addressed
dangerous anipse.
Some things are like heavy thoughts,
they have a heavy foot even in the dwelling in the sky.

Some things like eagles are.
They live upstairs
and they can easily forget the land.
Some things are like an earthquake:
all our fears use.
Some things are like Beauty, which has long since died:
only the waters from the deepest well can wash and awaken them.
