The snow is up to 50 centimeters thick, 30 schools are closed in the southeast of Albania

Heavy snowfall and extreme weather conditions have suspended the teaching process in 30 schools in the southeast of Albania.

In total, 1100 students will not have lessons today, with most of them concentrated in the Pogradec area, where in the Mokra area the snow ranges from 35-50 cm thick.

Schools in the main centers such as Velçani (138 students), Rodokali (145 students), Proptishti (112 students) and Trebinja (84 students), as well as other subordinate schools in villages such as Bishnica, Slabinje, Laktesh, Buzaishtë, Kričkovë and Grunjas, are closed due to the heavy snow that has blocked the roads and made it difficult to transport students.

In Devoll and Korçë-Pustec, other schools such as those in Vidëhovo, Arrze, Vithkuq, Lubonjë and Panarit have also interrupted the learning process due to unfavorable weather conditions and lack of access to infrastructure.

The conditions created by the snowfall have made it impossible to conduct classes, while an intervention to improve the situation is expected in the coming days. /Telegraph/
