Albania "30 years old"

Albania in the last three decades has been the focus of the Italian artist Eugenio Tibaldi's research. The story of a long transition is reflected in the works that he will now bring to an exhibition at the FAB Gallery from March 11-31.

"30 years old" is the name of the exhibition that has been centered on Albania since the 1990s. The title refers to a historical era and suggests an attempt to celebrate, but to do so we must not be alone.

And, precisely for this reason, the artist has decided to realize the project of this exhibition through a laboratory method. Starting from sharing its methodology and proposing a common theme to work on, the works in the exhibition are the result of collaboration between young Albanian artists who responded to the "open call". Starting from Tibaldi's first visit to Albania in October 2018 and on the occasion of the Contemporary Day, the participants in the project have walked, photographed, talked, analyzed, organized and produced works that reflect the thirty years of the city's change of Tirana from 1989 until today.

The project is the result of a mixture of views, starting from that of the Italian artist who belongs to an earlier generation and integrated with that of those - the participants of the workshop - who grew up in post-socialist Albania and lived in the country at the time of their daily.
