Sega cancels Football Manager 25

Sega has confirmed that it has canceled the video game Football Manager 25.

Sega's quarterly earnings report has revealed that development on Football Manager 25 has been halted.

"While many aspects of the game achieved their objectives, the overall gameplay experience and interface are not up to par," Sega said in a statement.

The company has provided more detailed reasons for the cancellation of the development.

"We aimed to bring a major evolution to the series by revamping the user interface and graphics, as well as adding new elements, but we realized that it took longer than expected to ensure the proper quality. With the cancellation of this title, we are focusing on the development of its successor, which will take over the development resources," Sega's announcement states.

This situation is reminiscent of EA's actions, which "skipped" several editions of NBA Live during the 2010s. It's also a disappointment for players, as last year's version won't receive an update to fill the gap while Sega and Sports Interactive focus on FM26.
