Samsung will introduce the XR glasses

Samsung has long been rumored to be working on XR glasses, and now another report has emerged from South Korea, announcing that the glasses will be revealed in prototype form at the Unpacked event in January.

In the first month of 2025, Samsung will hold the Unpacked event and introduce the Galaxy S25 series of smartphones, but at the same time it will also show its XR glasses.

However, it's a prototype, which won't be available to customers, nor will attendees at the Unpacked event be able to try it out. Therefore, it is expected that the XR glasses will appear in the form of a photo or some video.

It's actually a teaser, something similar to the case of the Galaxy Ring as part of this year's Unpacked. The smart ring was officially introduced in full in July this year.

The final version of the XR glasses will arrive in the third quarter of next year, i.e. between July and September, so Samsung is said to be aiming to repeat its strategy.

The XR glasses will weigh only 50 grams and look like regular ones. It will have a payment function of some kind, use AI technology and also have facial and gesture recognition technology. These options may be related to the aforementioned payment and use of the user interface.

The glasses have been developed in partnership with Google and Qualcomm since February 2023.

Ahead of the reveal, Samsung is said to be aiming to introduce its XR software platform, which should happen by the end of this month. /Telegraph/
