Reflection on psychological books with bombastic titles
Not infrequently it happens to us that, while reading the daily press, magazines, while watching television programs, listening to them on the radio, visiting bookstores, libraries, even those book sellers on the sidewalks, we come into contact with works, writings with titles that invoke the psychological character, the epithet of the modern science of psychology. All those information windows are overloaded with titles like "How to Live a Happy Life," "Steps to Success," "How to Heal Yourself from Stress," "How to Make Someone love us" etc. There are a number of such titles, however, what is the most interesting, in most of them, somewhere at the bottom of the front of the book it is written: "psychological book" and not infrequently this is the biggest mistake! We are left to know how much scientific psychology there really is, and how much there is business and dogma?!
The life that the majority of the world's population is living today, especially the urban one, is really very anxious, stressful, and sometimes even depressing. All these psychological concerns are a consequence of the exaggerated dynamics of life in modern societies. In such a predicament, people tend to find some more efficient, and highly personal and confidential remedy that enables them not to disclose the matter to others, to spend as little of their time and resources as possible to achieve to psychological stability, and this leads directly to reading books that hint that they can help in these aspects! The natural motives of people to reach a spiritual and material well-being, which corresponds to what is called a "happy life", and the motto for a happier life, is one of the basic factors that push towards research and reading. of these books that hint that they can help to reach real happiness!
In this painful situation, and very easily penetrated due to its emotional character, many individuals and organizations are knowing how to manipulate and exploit mercilessly, who are offering products that may be problem-selective, but in fact they are only problem-behavior for the mass, and profitable, either materially or socially, for those who distribute these materials.
Psychology is now a consolidated science, which has managed to create very empirical and scientific standards for study, research, and even influencing the psychological life of people for the purpose of support and healing! Everything that qualified and professionally competent psychologists undertake and offer is well-studied and previously measured in scientific terms. This shows the current validity of the technique being used, and its reliability for any side effects in the future.
In contrast to this correctness and this seriousness offered by psychologists and genuine psychological works, these above-mentioned works, which in one word I want to call, "Tallava Psychology", with their utopianism are often more harmful than beneficial to the readers' spiritual health. Often times, during reading, they evoke special feelings, which instantly, right there and then, can raise self-confidence, self-respect, evoke special motives in the reader, leaving the impression that they are affecting the whole. However, what is the truth, often these dynamic processes within the human psyche can also put other mechanisms into operation; there is the word repression, suppression, various dissonances, which time and maybe years later can bring different explosions, such as those of anxiety, stress and any symptom or other psychological troubles.
Due to the impossibility of going deeper into professional explanations of the danger of these fraudulent and completely worthless products within one article, I remain hopeful that in the future some kind of manual will be written in Albanian that shows the importance of mental health, and in particular, the importance of seeking help from professionally competent people, always in cases of need.
It remains important that people do not easily fall prey to these materials, before making a critical assessment of their validity and reliability, in the social aspect. Of course, not everyone can make such assessments. But today, fortunately, Kosovo has a significant number of psychologists, sociologists and pedagogues, who at least can give adequate assessments about these issues, since they belong to such a field of training.
What it looks and feels like initially, never means it will look and feel the same in the end. Even the patients, while operating, feel pain, however, when they recover, they feel good even in the future. Let this example be the best indicator that in the laws of science and the universe in general, first impressions and feelings are not always indicative of the future, especially when it comes to the complexity of human psychology. Then, I sincerely urge you to take care of your health. Man is his own best psychologist.
