Recount by the end of January, Elezi indicates when the final results will be announced

The Central Election Commission (CEC) is planning to announce the final results of the early elections for the Assembly of Kosovo in early February of this year, KosovaPress reports.
But, according to the CEC, the announcement of these results may come after the completion of the recount process of more than 1,800 remaining polling stations, which is planned to be concluded by the end of January.
This was confirmed to KosovaPress by the CEC spokesperson, Valmir Elezi, who spoke about the dynamics of the work at the Counting and Results Center.
"Currently, the number of teams engaged in the recount process during a working day is 76. Based on this capacity and the number of polling stations remaining to be recounted, we are planning and making efforts to conclude the entire process by the end of January," said Elezi.
Elezi said that the CEC will announce the final result after the recount is completed, which, according to him, could reduce the need for complaints, as the recount could remove all dilemmas regarding the results.
"After the recount process is completed, the CEC will announce the final election results. As provided for in the Law on General Elections, political entities and candidates will be able to file their complaints regarding this result with the ECAP and, eventually, the process may continue up to the Supreme Court."
"Of course, the recount process removes all dilemmas regarding the results and this may also reduce the need for complaints, but the CEC must wait for the deadline for submitting these complaints and reviewing them before proceeding with the certification of the final election results and at the same time concluding the electoral process," Elezi added.
According to the data, the recount process of polling stations is continuing at the Counting and Results Center, which is being carried out based on two decisions of the Central Election Commission. In total, the recount process will include all 2,557 polling stations where the regular electoral process took place on December 28, 2025.
According to the first decision of the CEC, dated January 13, 2026, the recount of 914 polling stations was foreseen, while with the second decision, dated January 19, 2026, it was decided to include 1,643 more polling stations, expanding the process as a whole. /kp/
