Prince Harry dresses up as 'Spiderman' to deliver a message to the children of fallen soldiers

Prince Harry dressed up as 'Spiderman' to deliver a heartwarming message to children whose parents died while serving in the British Armed Forces.

The Duke of Sussex - who lost his mother Princess Diana at the age of 12 - explained in a video played at the annual Scotty's Little Soldiers Christmas party on Saturday (December 3) why children don't need to feel guilty who want to enjoy the holiday season.

"Christmas is a time when we miss our loved ones really badly and that's okay, but at the same time, it can be a little bit guilty about having fun without our parents," Harry, 38, said in the clip. .

“But I'm here to assure you that our parents always want us to have fun, so don't feel guilty. You are allowed to have the best time ever, especially with this community of Scotty's Little Soldiers,” the Prince continued.

The British monarch then ended the clip by saying: "So get out there, have a good time and Merry Christmas," as he lifted his mask to reveal his face to the children.

According to Scotty's Little Soldiers, a British charity which supports children whose parents have died while serving in the armed forces, the theme of their party this year was "Heroes and Villains", which is why Harry was dressed as a superhero.

The father-of-two seemed to really get into character in the video, instructing the young children to catch the "villains five" at their party.

“You guys have to stop them from ruining Christmas, so use your teamwork, your brains and your wits to make sure you do just that. Find them and don't let them ruin Christmas, okay?” Harry told them.

Some of the children who participated in the charity event expressed their emotions at witnessing the prince's message.

"It's nice that someone who has been through the same experience as us is thinking of us," 12-year-old Emily Reynolds, who was seven when her father, Sergeant Antony Reynolds, died in 2018, said in a press release.

Harry has been open in the past about how difficult it was for him to deal with his mother's death at such a young age.

"I can say with certainty that losing my mother at the age of 12, and therefore shutting down all my emotions for the last 20 years, has had a very serious effect not only on my personal life, but also on work mine", he had said.

At a speaking event in 2020, Harry revealed that he had been in therapy for three years to try to overcome the "trauma" of losing his mother.

Harry and Markle, 41, now have two children. In addition to Archie, 3, the couple has a 1-year-old daughter, Lilibet Diana. /Telegraph/
