After failing for the second time in a row, the Parliament announces a new constitutive session

 For the second time in a row, the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo has failed to be constituted, following early elections held on February 9.

The deputies failed to successfully conclude the constitutive session, which was held today under the leadership of Speaker Avni Dehari.

In an attempt to find a way out, Dehari invited representatives of political parties to consultations.

However, after the meeting, he stated that no consensus had been reached on further steps, and announced that the session would continue on April 19, Saturday at 12:00.

The opposition parties – PDK, LDK and AAK – accused the Vetevendosje Movement of dragging out the process in order to “buy time for political bargaining”, claiming that Albin Kurti's party does not have enough votes to elect the Speaker of the Parliament and form the new Government.

Another sticking point remains the status of the current cabinet members, who have resigned to take up their mandates as MPs. The opposition insists that they cannot continue in office in the executive branch.

The acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has called these demands meaningless, emphasizing that his Government resigned on March 23 and is exercising its functions in a limited manner until the new executive is established.
