New American “pick-up” – financier Jeff Bezos

American startup Slate Auto has unveiled its first pickup truck. It's a small electric pickup truck that has been funded by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

One of the main advantages of this tool is the price – in the US it costs less than $20, after subsidies are taken into account.

The company plans a wide range of additional equipment, going as far as converting the pickup into a five-seat SUV, with the addition of a roof at the rear.

The interior of the Slate model is basic, without an infotainment screen – and this role is expected to be taken by the smartphone, as we have already seen from some European manufacturers.

A 210 horsepower electric motor powers the rear wheels. The base 52.7 kWh battery pack promises a range of 240 kilometers, while the optional 84.3 kWh pack increases this range to 370 kilometers.

Slate claims that the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in 8 seconds and has a top speed of 145 km/h. The vehicle is 443 cm long, which puts it in the compact class.

Slate plans to sell the pickup directly to consumers, without intermediaries, to reduce costs. This pickup seems like an interesting idea, especially for artisans and professionals in big cities. /Telegraph/
