Much ado about nothing, stones believed to be diamonds in South Africa - turn out to be worthless quartz

Unidentified stones that caught the attention of thousands of treasure hunters in a village in South Africa are not diamonds, but quartz, which actually has no monetary value.

Citizens from all over South Africa took pity on KwaHlat in the east of this country, where the villagers had come across some unusual stones, reports the Telegraph.

Many of them thought it was diamonds, despite the fact that the authorities at the time had advised them to be careful.

And a provincial official has said that the tests done have shown that the stones are not diamonds.

Otherwise, South Africa has been hit hard by the high percentage of unemployment and poverty, and the coronavirus pandemic has made the situation even more difficult. /Telegraph/
