Kosovo Police discovers and confiscates 105,000 euros suspected of being counterfeit in the Gjilan region

The Kosovo Police, through the Directorate for the Investigation of Economic Crimes and Corruption, in cooperation with the Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo, has carried out a successful operation on December 9, 2024.


This action came after receiving information on attempts to circulate large amounts of counterfeit money in the Gjilan region.

During the investigative actions, the police stopped a vehicle with local license plates, which was driven by a suspect, a Kosovar citizen.

During the search of the vehicle, 105,000 euros suspected to be counterfeit were found and confiscated.

Also, a search was carried out at the suspect's house, where a money counting machine was found. The police seized as material evidence:

€100,000 in €200 notes. €5,000 in €100 notes. 1 money counting machine. 3 mobile phones.

By decision of the prosecutor, the suspect has been detained for 48 hours and is being investigated for the criminal offenses "Forgery of money" and "Money laundering".
