Military and security experts appreciate the operationalization of the ammunition factory

A day earlier, Kosovo signed a contract with the Turkish state manufacturer "Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi", for the operationalization of the ammunition factory. Prime Minister Kurti at the moment of signing said that through it they are laying the foundations of the defense industry.

Soldiers and security professors have spoken about this. They called such a project very important if it was not done for electoral influence.

Although the construction of the ammunition factory, for the former commander of the KSF, Kadri Kastrati, is very late, however, the benefits of Kosovo will be great if the project does not remain only on paper.

"Kosovo does not have any military infrastructure that deals with the construction of equipment and armaments, and if it becomes a reality, Kosovo or its military forces will benefit a lot, as well as the region, because neither Albania nor North Macedonia has any ammunition factories that have so far raise such capacities", said Kastrati for RTK.

The professor of the field of security, Fatmir Çollaku, is optimistic about the functionalization of the factory, since, as he said, such a thing is necessary for the field of security in the country.

"Since it is a question of the field of security and the production of armaments, without a doubt such a thing is encouraging for the strengthening of the security system in terms of logistics and equipment, and thus Kosovo will gradually consolidate in the not distant future to be a small country where big things are produced", he emphasized.

The Minister of the Interior, Xhelal Sveçla, emphasized that this project is part of a wider initiative for the development of the defense and security industry in Kosovo, including the USA.

"Definitely the USA, which is our main strategic ally and we have close cooperation with them, we will talk with all those partners who meet our needs but are also a continuation of the unsparing and unstoppable cooperation between us", he said.

Meanwhile, the Turkish manufacturer, on its Facebook page, announced that the factory will be according to NATO standards and that with this contract they are proud to contribute to Turkey's defense industry exports, strengthening Turkey's defense industry. Kosovo.

After operationalization, the factory will operate as a public enterprise and as a 100% local brand of Kosovo, although the location, cost and time of construction of the factory are not yet known.
