Halil Geci was interviewed today by the Kosovo Police with authorization from the Special Prosecution Office, under suspicion of threats against President Vjosa Osmani.

The news was confirmed to the Telegraph by the spokesperson for the Special Prosecution of Kosovo, Nora Luta.

"Regarding the matter you have addressed questions about, we confirm that he was interviewed by the Kosovo Police with the authorization of the Special Prosecution. Meanwhile, the criminal procedure in this case continues," said Luta.

Halil Geci's lawyer, Gazmend Halilaj, has also announced that his client was released after several hours of interview at the Special Prosecution Office, namely at the Department for Serious Crimes.

"Unprecedented case. The President takes the citizen to the police for a Facebook status. Dear friends, after a few hours in Serious Crimes, Baci Lilë was released. In no democratic country, it happens that the President of the state deals with citizen statuses that, with the European Convention and the Constitution of the Republic, ... the right to free expression of opinion is guaranteed... Baci Lilë is known worldwide as a man who, for decades, promotes peace and tolerance everywhere," wrote Halilaj.

Otherwise, a day ago, after the reaction of the Kosovo Presidency to his statements, Halil Geci published a public reaction clarifying his position regarding the article in which he had commented on the actions of President Vjosa Osmani.

In his reaction, Geci says that in the published article he had only expressed a critical opinion on respect for the Constitution and that his statements have been misinterpreted. /Telegrafi/
