Overestimating children makes them narcissistic

Parents turn their children into narcissists by overestimating them, says a study published in "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America"

It is good for parents to be emotionally connected with children - says the study - because it leads to a high level of self-confidence, but does not lead to narcissism.

The study is the first of its kind that has studied children between the ages of 7 and 11, which is considered the period when narcissistic tendencies begin to appear, Telegrafi reports.

Professor Brad Bushman, one of the authors of this study, stated:

"Children believe their parents when they tell them they are more special than others. And this may not be a good thing for them or society in general.

When I started researching in the 90s, I believed that my children should be treated as if they were super special. But now I take great care not to do that.

It is important to express warmth towards your children because you increase their self-confidence, but overestimation leads them to narcissism". /Telegraph/
