North Macedonia today marks "October 11", the Day of the People's Uprising

In North Macedonia, October 11 is marked today, the Day of the People's Uprising, when the people rose up in an armed uprising against fascism in 1941.

On this occasion, President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova will deliver a speech at the Solemn Academy, which will be held under her auspices at the Museum of the Macedonian War for Independence.

Also on the occasion of this day, delegations from the Assembly and the Government will place flowers in Skopje, Prilep and Kumanovo.


Meanwhile, the "October 11" state prize for 2024 will be awarded in the Assembly.

The Lifetime Achievement Award in the field of culture and art will be awarded to Lupço Karov, multimedia artist; Vladimir Temkov, academic painter and Jovica Mihajllovski, actor and drama producer; while in the field of science - prof. dr. Marko Kitevski, researcher of Macedonian folklore.

Because of this holiday, October 11 is a non-working day for all citizens.
