Llukarevska: The RMV economy is in free fall, citizens have less and less money

"The country's economy is in free fall, citizens have less and less money due to enormous price increases, and urgent joint action is needed. Instead of half-hearted solutions, we demand that the Government and the parliamentary majority immediately accept the SDSM proposals to reduce VAT on electricity and abolish VAT on food."

This was stated by SDSM MP Sanja Llukarevska, who stressed that the recent decision to limit margins is belated, half-hearted and fundamentally flawed.

"Freezing the price level from February 1 is wrong, because the data of the Statistical Office shows that prices have already increased in January. This means that they are frozen products with more expensive prices."

"The government should have gone back a few months and used those prices as a reference point, not these increased prices. Moreover, instead of limiting the margin to only 102 product groups, all 238 product groups should be covered. For these reasons, citizens will not feel any effect from these half-hearted and delayed measures. Unfortunately, the government is showing itself to be a servant of big business interests, instead of fighting for the good of citizens," said Llukarevska.

"Protecting the standard of living of citizens is the number one obligation of all members of the Macedonian Parliament, therefore we ask all members of parliament from all parliamentary parties to support these legal changes. Citizens deserve support, and these measures are the right way to reduce food prices and electricity bills," Lukarevska emphasized. /Telegrafi/
