The rare Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition sold for $1.6 million

The Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition was sold at auction and its price exceeded all expectations.

whether Lexus responds to fan requests and builds a new LFA, that car will surely be electrified, and until then, solace may be the rumored twin-turbo Lexus LC F.

More and more supercar manufacturers are adopting electrification, but the original Lexus LFA with a naturally aspirated engine is in high demand among collectors. Therefore, its value is increasing, and a few weeks ago, a copy with only 116 kilometers traveled was sold for 808 thousand dollars. It is expected that it won't be long before the LFA becomes a car worth millions, which it did very quickly.

At the Monterey auction, a rare 2012 Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition was sold for $1.6 million. It was previously estimated to fetch $1.1 million, but the bids exceeded all expectations.

When it hit the market in 2011, the Lexus LFA cost $375, which means its price has increased by more than $1 million in ten years. The even more desirable Nurburgring Edition model sold for $445, and the matte black version fetched $465.

Production of the Lexus LFA was limited to 500 units, of which 64 units belonged to the Nurburgring Edition version. Of these, 25 were made for the US market, and the copy sold is one of only three painted black.

The car has traveled 1.500 km and is in excellent condition. Compared to the standard model, it features carbon components including a redesigned front splitter, a fixed rear spoiler and side skirts. To improve handling and lower the center of gravity, the Nurburgring Edition model is 10 mm closer to the ground. The standard rims have been replaced by a set of magnesium BBS with Bridgestone tires.

The LFA Nurburgring Edition is powered by a naturally aspirated 8-liter V4.8 engine that develops 562 horsepower, which means it's 10 horsepower more powerful than the standard model. /Telegraph/
