Kurti says that he thought about visiting The Hague, but it was a main reason that stopped him from going

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has spoken about the reasons for his non-visit to The Hague, to the detention center of the Special Court, where the former leaders of the KLA, Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi are being held. .

Kurti said that he thought about visiting The Hague, but the reason he stopped it was the forms that had to be filled out.

"I thought about the visit to The Hague and I was interested in going, but the main factor that stopped me from going is the fact that I had to fill out a lot of form documents, where you signed the documents of the Special Court, I didn't want to do that ", Kurti stated on RTK.

Kurti emphasized that the day when the Special Court was voted in is a black day in the history of Kosovo.

"I have considered and today I think that is a mistake, August 3, 2015 is a black day in the new history of Kosovo, I have not seen the Specialized Chambers that have transparency, one foot inside Kosovo and one outside Kosovo, the head is not I know exactly where it is" - said Kurti.

The Special Court was established in 2015 by the Assembly of Kosovo and is part of the judicial system of Kosovo, but operates with international personnel and is headquartered in The Hague.

The Specialized Chambers and the Specialized Prosecutor's Office – also known as the Special Court – investigate alleged crimes by members of the Kosovo Liberation Army against ethnic minorities and political rivals from January 1998 to December 2000.

Currently, Hashim Thaçi is being tried in the Special Court together with the other former leaders of the KLA, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi under charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The initial indictment against four former KLA superiors was confirmed on 26.10.2020 and has undergone several changes in the years that followed.
