Jamie Vardy refused to lift the Championship trophy after two Leicester players were nowhere near him

Jamie Vardy refused to lift the Championship trophy until two of his Leicester City team-mates joined him.

Last week, Leicester's return to the Premier League was confirmed after Leeds United lost at Queens Park Rangers.

The Foxes then sealed their Championship title on Monday after Vardy scored twice during a 3-0 win over Preston North End.

On Saturday, despite losing to Blackburn Rovers at home, Leicester were in celebration mode as they lifted the Championship trophy.

As club captain, Vardy was tasked with lifting the trophy in front of a jubilant crowd inside the King Power Stadium.

However, in footage posted on social media, Vardy asked two of his team-mates to join him before lifting the trophy.

The two Leicester players selected by Vardy were Marc Albrighton and Ricardo Pereira. /Telegraph/
