Jaguar officially presents the new concept, with the design of the Type 00 some are horrified - others delighted

Luxury carmaker Jaguar has unveiled its new electric concept, less than two weeks after releasing a teaser video that sparked mixed reactions.

The presentation of the new Type 00 model caused numerous reactions from users of social networks - some praised its design, while others mocked it, Telegraph reports.

Last month, many critics pointed out that the promotional video that announced the new model did not show the new car at all, but the company received praise from some for its "bold new approach".

The automaker, which is in the midst of the biggest transformation in its history, unveiled a new logo and launched a so-called "social media teaser."

During the launch of the Type 00 in Miami, company boss Gerry McGovern said he liked how much attention the new Jaguar was getting.

"It has already stirred emotions and will continue to do so. "Jaguar does not want to be loved by absolutely everyone," he added.

“The Type 00 represents the pure essence of Jaguar's new creative philosophy. This is the result of bold, limitless creative thinking and unwavering determination. It's the foundation for a new Jaguar family that will look like nothing you've seen before," he concluded.

Reactions on Jaguar's social media posts about the car ranged from "we hope this never comes out" to "exciting" and "absolutely amazing".

Auto industry analyst Karl Brauer was skeptical of the renaming.

"The company seems to be sacrificing Jaguar's past in the hope of a better future. I don't think it will work," he told the BBC.

Last month, the company urged people to "have faith and refrain from criticism" regarding the rebranding.

Earlier in November, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) stopped selling new Jaguar cars in the UK.

The company said it was a deliberate move to "create breathing space" before launching the new brand.

Jaguar insists the Type 00 is very close to series production due to appear in a year's time. Series production means a four-seat GT priced in excess of €135,000, most likely with doors like those of a Rolls-Royce or Ferrari Purosangue (as well as the 6 Jaguar R-D2003 concept).

The new JEA platform will form the basis for Jaguar's entire electric family. A range of up to 770 kilometers is promised and the possibility of quick charging of just 15 minutes is equally important. How big and heavy the battery will be remains to be seen. /Telegraph/
