The Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica, Department for Serious Crimes, has filed an indictment at the Basic Court in Mitrovica against the doctor from Vushtrri, AV, for the criminal offense "Continued abuse of official position or authority", under Article 414 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 77 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.
According to the indictment, the defendant is suspected of having acted intentionally for the purpose of material gain at the Family Medicine Center in Vushtrri, in his capacity as a family medicine specialist, during the period from July 20, 2025 to October 28, 2025.
The Prosecution's announcement states that the doctor issued medical reports without a medical basis, providing patients with illegal benefits.
"The defendant issued medical reports at the request of patients, knowing that the persons in question did not suffer from such diseases, and even asked them what diagnosis to give them, with the aim of using these reports to open sick leave in violation of the Labor Law," the announcement states.
Also, according to the Prosecution, AV is suspected of having prescribed drugs according to the recommendations of pharmaceutical agents and then accepting financial benefits.
"After issuing the medical reports, the defendant accepted material benefits - money in amounts ranging from five (5) to fifty (50) euros," the Prosecution emphasizes.
Upon filing the indictment, the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica proposed to the court that doctor AV be found guilty and that the criminal sanction provided for in the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo be imposed on him. /Telegraph/
