The Basic Court in Pristina, Department for Serious Crimes, has announced a guilty verdict in the criminal case against the defendant NM, for the criminal offense of Aggravated Murder.
According to the press release, it is announced that accused NM, was found guilty and sentenced to 20 years in prison, after committing the criminal offense of Aggravated Murder.
The announcement further states that in the sentence imposed by imprisonment, the time spent in pre-trial detention is also counted for the accused, while by a special ruling, the pre-trial detention measure has been extended until this judgment becomes final, but not longer than the sentence imposed in this judgment.
“On 20.08.2024, at around 19:00, on 'Ismet Krasniqi' Street, in Prishtina, precisely in the common corridor of their houses, the accused NM, in a cunning way and for petty motives of jealousy, intentionally deprived her now deceased brother-in-law, Xh. M., where the accused, after feeling disrespected and abandoned by her family, thinking that the deceased had an influence on these circumstances, had initially prepared to commit this criminal offense, having completed a course on training in the use of short weapons, had also purchased firearms and ammunition and had taken advantage of the opportunity while other family members were not present. At the moment she had seen the deceased Xh.M., passing through the corridor of the house to go to the common yard, she had gone out into the corridor at a place and time when the deceased did not expect her, in a cunning way the accused had shot in the direction of the now deceased the deceased several times, hitting him in different parts of the body and as a result of the injuries received, the deceased Xh.M. died at the scene of the incident," the announcement states.
It is further announced that the Court has ordered the permanent confiscation of the firearm as a means of committing the criminal offense and the Kosovo Police has been obliged to destroy the weapon after this judgment becomes final.
"The accused is obliged to pay the amount of 200 euros as the costs of the criminal procedure - the court lump sum - and the amount of 50 euros as the tax for the Crime Victims Compensation Fund, all within 15 days from the day the judgment becomes final. The injured party SM, for the realization of the property - legal claim, is instructed to file a regular civil dispute," the announcement states.
Meanwhile, against this ruling, dissatisfied parties have the right to appeal to the Court of Appeal, through the Basic Court in Pristina. /Telegraph/
