The National Institute of Public Health has provided an update on the drinking water situation in the country, following the serious situation caused by the floods of recent days.

The National Institute of Public Health and Water Resources says that in the capital region "the quality of drinking water is within permitted standards."


In the Pristina region, water is not recommended for drinking in Vragoli and Miradi i Poshtme.

Prishtina region

In the water treatment plants in Shkabaj, Badoc and Batllavë, the quality of drinking water is within permitted standards.

In Drenas/Bivolak, the plant is currently operating at reduced capacity, however the water quality remains within the standards allowed for consumption.

In Lipjan and Kuzmin, water quality is within permitted standards.

In Vragoli and Miradi e Poshtme, the water is not recommended for drinking.

Mitrovica region

In Mitrovica, Vushtrri, Skenderaj, as well as in the northern municipalities, the water quality is within the permitted standards.

Ferizaj region

In the city of Ferizaj, water quality is within drinking water standards.

In Han i Elezit, the central water supply with a source in Dimcë presents a high level of turbidity; for this reason, the water is used only for technical needs and is not recommended for drinking.

Gjilan region

In the city of Gjilan, water is within consumption standards.

The Prilepnica and Bajë reservoirs present physico-chemical parameters within the standards foreseen for drinking water.

In Kamenica and Viti, water quality remains within permitted standards.

Peja region

In the cities of Peja and Istog, as well as in the Vrelle/Istog area, the water quality is within drinking water standards.

In Mbivada, due to increased turbidity, water is used only for technical needs.

In Junik, the water is within standards.

In Deçan and Klina, due to high turbidity, the water is not recommended for drinking and is used only for technical purposes.

Gjakova region

The water supply from the Gjakova RWC network is safe for consumption.

In the localities of Hoçë e Madhe, Opterushë, Zaqishtë, Demjan and Gërçinë, increased turbidity values ​​have been identified, therefore the water is not considered drinkable.

Prizren region

The water source from the "40 wells" in the city of Prizren is within the permitted standards for drinking water.

Suhareka still has a supply problem in the flooded villages of Semetis, Studençan and Nëpërbisht. The rest of the supply through the KRU Hidroregjioni Jugur continues normally.

In Malisheva, due to increased turbidity, it is used only as technical water and is not recommended for drinking.

In Dragash, water quality is within permitted standards.
