Gave money to sister to buy California lottery ticket, after winning a million dollars wants to rent it to brother – to buy him a new car

A California woman says she will buy her brother a new car after giving him money to buy a lottery ticket that turned out to be a million dollar win.

The winner, identified as J. Garcia, told California lottery officials that her brother had given her the money to buy the ticket, the Telegraph reports.

"I knew my brother liked gambling and I told him to buy me a ticket," Garcia said.

On the other hand, her brother had called her from the Cardenas Market on Lincoln Avenue to let her know that he had secured a ticket for her.

Garcia had ordered his brother to scratch it so he could save it and avoid the trip to the market – thinking the winner's prize was only $5.

"I think you won," Garcia recalls the moment his brother broke the news to him over the phone.

After contacting the lottery offices, he learned that it was a million dollars.

"He will definitely buy his brother a new car," said Gardia. /Telegraph/
