According to the assertions of component suppliers, but also of Korean newspapers, Apple plans a large increase in iPad shipments for this year. As Commercial Times writes, Apple has already ordered between 65 and 75 million screens for the new tablet this year.
The screen for the new iPad was reportedly prepared by Sharp, and will be produced by LG and Samsung. The increase in the number of shipments compared to last year's 40 million this year will be between 60 and 73%. According to Korean sources, manufacturers there have partially stopped production of screens for the iPad 2 in order to increase production capacities of screens for the new tablet.
