You might have expected us to put the word "save" in quotation marks, but no. You might have also expected us to mention the names of today's "historical" leaders, but no. We believe it is understandable why names do not matter in this approach. Not only are there not one or two, nor three or four, but the essential thing is the phenomenon. They, sooner or later, one day leave, but their habit remains unchanged. In over a hundred years of statehood, we have had various leaders at the helm, but most of them have had one typical thing in common, the dictate over others, regardless of the form of the regime. In other words, what is known in history as "the state is me!"

Finally, we can mention some names, but in the opposite sense, from those from whom Albanians did not need to “save themselves”, on the contrary, but let’s not interrupt the flow of the writing. The question is how to save ourselves from our VIPs of ardent electoral love, those for whom we cheered so loudly that our voices became hoarse and our eyes watered, we took so many crazy selfies with them, we danced and sang in the dust and mud, because we were defeating our political opponent, that is, our “enemy” brother, and we were securing unlimited power for ourselves. We did not even consider that we were making the best choice, with the plebiscite victory we already had the EU at our doorstep. Or had we remained at their doorstep?

However, our leaders probably have the dragon's hair on their chest, they suddenly become alienated and savage as soon as they take power, leaving the party on the bench and the government cabinet, the development agencies that have money are governed by friends and comrades of the political "tribe". This is what they say: power does not come from votes, but from the all-powerful leader; the rulers who come from anonymity have no party, but only a "god" to whom they pray, and therefore they have no business robbing Albania above ground and underground, taking Albanians' money into their own pockets and the devil's. Just like in a medieval fiefdom, when the "fieflords" of the ministries act with public assets as if they had inherited them from their grandparents. During our government, we would do public works like never before, all to standards ... only to collapse without a proper ribbon being cut! Reform like never before, especially in the justice system, without a single stone in the wheel! And the result, truly impressive, a government with half the ministers in office and the other half in prison, and yet, the caravan moves forward without stopping.

The opposition, of course, has nothing in common with the corrupt government of more than a decade, but when it comes to functioning as such, it loyally lines up in its pulpits, with Molotov cocktails and walking around Tirana, with nothing new, even though there is an affirmed elite that is not allowed to come to the fore, where three or four names of potential leaders stand out that are whispered by everyone and that would lead the opposition to victory, among them some new politician. Even there, the problem is the power of the historical one, which has caused him to be at the top and the party to be at the bottom.

Democracy has advanced so much that instead of the small parties of the past, today we have lonely individuals - "parties" who protest with a chair on the sidewalk, or lonely individuals who run around the cities to organize small political meetings of acquaintances. No matter where you look at it, a political leadership that is already crumbling, already bunkering down, serves the narrow interests of the "supreme" leaders, both from the left and from the right. Oh, yes, what do you mean, where is there a comparison between the position and the opposition, the opposition and the position, they are like night and day!? Of course, political militants have this job, we are talking about non-politicized Albanians, even those of the parties, who want European politics, real pluralism and political rotation. Without sophisms, without spinning useless words about democracy.

We should only say it in Albanian, that we cannot escape from autocratic leaders, we are (and) to blame, we make them cool, when we should abandon them, we leave their conference halls and rallies empty! Let's spare them the praise, the heroism, the patriotism. Don't be afraid that we have empty squares! When they are not dominated by sterile party members, the public, the citizens, fill them, who do not compromise with depraved and corrupt leaders, as we have seen them fill in the case of "chemical weapons" etc.

On the other hand, among us Albanians, the grape sees the grape and does not ripen. The same situation, even more blocking, and on the other side of Morin. A head of government who vetoes and takes the country to early elections, just so that it becomes his, a name is elected and only she at the head of the Assembly?! Likewise, a head of state, who takes the country to new elections, only that she herself is not re-elected again in the high position she holds?! Everyone swears that they are implementing the constitution, even by minutes and seconds, but as is known, the one who pays for this institutional collapse in Kosovo is the people, from the financial bill of repeated elections, which fail to "produce" power, stable institutions, by not receiving services and not completing roads, everywhere left half-finished, etc.

And, all the statesmen, somehow, somehow put their hand on the Constitution! And you don't know where to put your hand ... to single out any of them as deeply responsible for the position entrusted to them! The same as when they are a little over 80 years old, as when they are a little under 40 years old! As when they are men, as when they are women. The same mentality, the same stubborn, angry, mean behavior. May the apocalypse come after me! They make you consider the photo in the White House, as if it is a card that keeps you in power forever, when Americans have set their own time limits, two terms and that's it, which does not mean that every leader can necessarily "enjoy" both terms! Especially when politics does not grow you, does not mature you, but ends you with the heavy habits of traditional leaders. As soon as they get angry, when their self-interest is violated - as men, as women in power - they are no longer the first to whistle in front of the cameras about democracy and state-building, holding "principled" positions, always in the name of parliamentarism, independence of powers, etc. The word compromise is foreign to them, it is only natural if it is in my favor. As much as the other magic word, resignation! No, these are not for Albanian politicians.

Let's be clear, the problem is not necessarily only the leaders of the executive branch or the presidential ones, "strong" prosecutors may also appear from the judiciary, who, in the name of the power given to them by the law and the support of internationals, think themselves infallible. It may be the excessive zeal of some of them, it may be legal shortcomings, but in the eyes of the public, the voters, the one who "appoints" and the judges and prosecutors, according to legal analysts, the detention of an elected person, mandated to govern in local or central government, when there is nothing that really endangers the process, is unjustified. There can be no power over other powers. Neither the legislature. Nor the executive. Nor the judiciary. In our opinion, in a democratic state, shackles here and there are no solutions, the seizure of illegally acquired assets should have been the final resort, but that is not happening. The first in importance is the citizen, receiving services and justice from him, the most critical point of this society. The Rrjolli is everyone's drama. The mirror where the government and justice must see themselves. The police have no business there, but the statesmen of the executive and the law.

"Order" on the seashore is not established with a rubber baton, but with legal acts in favor of the legitimate owners. That's why people run away, run away, run away, leaving us to discuss here for days and nights, weeks and months... immunity, evidence, prison!? A never-ending dilemma. Our problem is always the procedures and not the essence, that this place was stolen without "procedures" and here the punishment begs to be exemplary, but with irrefutable evidence and not with those thousands of pages of documents seized in offices, often routine paperwork practices of the state administration. This is called, on the one hand, “much ado about nothing”, on the other hand, what is fundamental to the existence of a country, we have not sown the fields almost in the entire territory of the republic!… We could continue like this for a long time, but this is just a political feuilleton, just for a flogging of the phenomenon of power-hungry, evil individuals clothed in power, which we keep in the past, without getting their feet on the ground. And now that the moral of the fable has been grasped by everyone, we are mentioning some names from those leaders that Albanians did not need to be saved from, such as, at the beginning of the 20th century, Ismail Qemali and in recent times, Ibrahim Rugova. /Gazeta “Panorama”/
