The elimination of autonomy and the division of Sanjak between Serbia and Montenegro

The Local Anti-Fascist Council for the Liberation of the People of Sandjak was the highest political body in Sandjak during the anti-fascist war. It was founded in Plevla on November 20, 1943.

The Presidency of the Anti-Fascist Council for the Liberation of the People of Yugoslavia, in the Second Session of November 29, 1943 in Jajce, takes a decision in which, among other things, it is stated that the ZAVNO (KNAÇ) of Sanjak was in function of the founding body of the people's power in Sanjak . But things change later.

Historically, it is known that the Province of Sanxhak, with its administrative center in Novi Pazar, was a region inhabited by Albanians, Bosniaks and Slavs in a minor percentage. During the Second World War, a fair anti-fascist war was fought in this province, where Albanians and Bosniaks were distinguished. But, once the war is over, the politicians of Serbia and Montenegro will bargain and divide this territory, just as they tried to divide Kosovo. The division seemed to be the fault of the internal factor, but also thanks to the ratio of political and military forces.

The abolition of Sanjak as an Autonomous Region, but also of the administrative division in the middle of Montenegro, was represented by the Montenegrin Millovan Gjillas and the Serbian Aleksandëar Rankovići.

The People's Anti-Fascist Council for the Liberation of Sanjak, in its assembly on March 29, 1945, in Novi Pazar, states that the districts of Priboj, Malesheva, Zlatari, Sjenica, Dezheva and Shtavica, after the Balkan War, before the creation of centralist Yugoslavia, met Serbia, while the districts of Plevla (with the former district of Bolanica) and Bjellopola (with the former district of Lozana) met Montenegro. The Anti-Fascist Council of People's Liberation of Sanjak sees no reason why it should not be so even today, when based on the decision of AVNOJ from November 29, 1943, the new democratic Federation of Yugoslavia is built.

Since the founding Assembly of this council that was held on November 20, 1943 in Plevle, and even later, no request was made for a special status of Sanjak in the future state. Therefore, the Anti-Fascist Council for the Liberation of Sanjak, "after hearing about the status of Sanjak in our new state and after substantial discussion on this issue" decides:

1. The districts of Priboj, Milesheva, Zllatari, Senica, Dezheva (Pazari ri - vj) and Shtavica (Tutin) belong to federal Serbia, while the districts of Plevla (with the former district of Bolanica) and Bjellopola (with the former the district of Llozana) meet Montenegro.

2. That the Anti-Fascist Council for the Liberation of Sanjak be dissolved immediately;

3. That the current councilors of the districts of Priboj, Milesheva, Zlatari, Dezheva and Shtavica immediately hold assemblies and elect the temporary executive national liberation council of the district;

4. The Anti-Fascist executive council of the People's Liberation of Sanjak ceases to function, after this decision is applied in practice;

5. The Anti-Fascist Liberation Council of Sanjak asked the Presidency of AVNOJ (KÇKJ), the Anti-Fascist People's Liberation Council of Serbia, as well as the People's Anti-Fascist Liberation Council of Montenegro to implement these decisions.

"Death to fascism - Freedom of the People!", among other things, it says there.

For the People's Anti-Fascist Council for the Liberation of Sanjak, the members of the Executive Council decided: Milivoje Dobrashinović, Jaksha Bogdanović, Misho Paviqević, Edib Hasanagić, Marinko Gollubović, Zhiko Žižić, the first vice president Murat Sheqeragić, the second vice president Dushan Ivović!

In the Assembly there was also a proposal that Kosovo and the Dukagjin Plain should join Montenegro. This proposal was supported and requested by Marko Vujaqiqi. Sreten Vukosavleviqi, according to the documents, had requested that Sanxhaku be separated at all costs, because it cannot exist as a whole, but that "we should not rush with this separation". Meanwhile, Eduard Kardeli and Sreten Zhujoviqi - since the former had received territories of Italy including Trieste - had emphasized that Sanxhak should be liquidated, as a special administrative territorial unit. Mosha Pijade, Rade Pribiqeviqi and Mile Perunqiqi had abstained, so that they could participate in the Anti-Fascist Council (ZAVNO) of Sanxhak and measure the positions of the representatives there.

The decision to split Sandjak was made without asking the people at all, while some politicians had emphasized that a mistake was made with Sandjak and that this decision should not be implemented.

But Tito, Gjillasi, Rankoviqi and Kardeli were the ones who had broken up the ethnic groups in Yugoslavia. /Telegraph/
