How much did the big Kukës bridge, which has the highest arch in Europe, cost?

In recent days, the view of the Kukës bridge, which is being built on Rrugë e Kombit to avoid a 90-degree turn at the entrance to Kukës, has been published.

The construction of this bridge that is 320 meters long, 270 meters without any legs, all suspended.

The bridge has the highest arch in Europe, it is an arch bridge, not the largest bridge in Europe.

So it has the largest welded bow in Europe that is adapted for winds and everything else. It is an investment of 35 million Euros by "Kastrati Group", which is expected to put it into operation at the beginning of this summer.

The special feature of the bridge is that it is a bridge that slides, floats in the lake, until it is placed on the opposite side. 5 thousand 300 tons of steel were needed for the bridge project, just for its construction. It is the largest work of this type in Albania, the bridge with the highest arch in Europe, 67 meters high.

The leader of the "Opinion" show, Blendi Fevziu, has closely seen the works being carried out for the biggest bridge in Kukës.

Spartak, how long have you been working with the bridge?

Spartak Tumani, administrator of AHC: The bridge has been under construction for almost 3 years, initially in 2020 we participated in the project, we chose the design company. We chose this shape for 2 main reasons: First, that this is the largest work that we have as concessionaires in our capital works and wanted to give it the right shape and size and the other is that we have a lake below that has levels variable water levels and cannot be managed by us and this makes it necessary to work outside the water level.

How much did the bridge cost?

Spartak Tumani, administrator of AHC: We are currently at the level of 33-35 million Euros, together with the layers of works that have come out along the way.

When does it end?

Spartak Tumani, administrator of AHC: Our subcontractors are working two shifts, 24 hours a day and we claim that this summer, the road will be open to traffic.

Is this one of the hardest jobs you've ever done?

Spartak Tumani, administrator of AHC: This has something else that besides the difficulty of the work, this bridge for the engineers and for us who worked is a unique school.
