"He has destroyed the company's reputation," Tesla investors demand Musk's resignation

One of Tesla's earliest investors has said that Elon Musk should step down as CEO of the automaker if he doesn't give up his new government job.

Ross Gerber said the tycoon and Donald Trump adviser had lost focus given his growing interests and was now too "divisive".

He mentioned Musk's post-election role as head of the Trump administration's new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

And this role has apparently drawn public anger and protests over planned, increasing cuts to federal government staff, writes sky news, the Telegraph reports.

Gerber said: “I think Tesla needs a new CEO and I decided today that I was going to start saying that.”

Despite "Trump's support," Tesla doesn't seem to be seeing its best days.

"It's time for someone to run Tesla. The business has been neglected for too long. There are a lot of important things Tesla is doing, so Elon should either come back and be CEO of Tesla and give up his other jobs or he should focus on government and continue doing what he's doing but find a suitable CEO for the company."

According to Gerber, the manufacturer was "absolutely" in crisis and the appointment was among several reasons he had sold a significant number of shares in recent months.

It is reported that a decline in the company's value began shortly before Trump took office.

Gerber said that while Tesla's products were undoubtedly the best around, Musk had devoted very little time to the company even since buying the X.

He added that his social media posts and work with the president had since brought a lot of negative publicity to Tesla.

"The company's reputation has just been destroyed by Elon Musk," he said. /Telegraph/
