The interior of the new Audi Q3 shows how form and function become one. Premium materials, intelligent technologies and a customizable lighting and sound concept come together to create an exceptional driving experience.

Clean lines, intuitive operation and smart technology combine in the new Audi Q3. The calm and clear design of the control panel continues in the neat arrangement of the center console. The simple design and user-focused layout, cup holders and the covered charging tray reflect Audi's philosophy of "visual clarity". At the center of everything is the digital stage: the panoramic display – with Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus 11,9-inch and 12,8-inch MMI touchscreen – has a driver-oriented curved design. It is complemented by an optional head-up display that projects important information directly into the driver’s field of vision. Flat door handles, carefully combined materials with soft-touch surfaces and chrome details on the switches emphasize the visual appeal, quality and overall comfort of the vehicle.

More space thanks to intelligent controls

The new steering wheel control unit with two levers on the steering column has brought more storage space to the center console, a new user experience and a greater sense of space. The lever on the right selects the speed, while the one on the left controls the lighting and windshield wiper functions. Removing the gear lever from the center console has freed up additional space. This space is used for two cup holders and a large storage compartment under the armrest, which can be adjusted in height. The cooling drawer with 15 W inductive charging and two USB-C ports can be closed with a sliding lid as desired. Two additional USB-C ports are located at the rear.

Lighting effects create atmosphere

When darkness falls, the various lighting packages (Ambient Lighting Plus/Pro) create a mood in the interior. The dashes of the control panel and center console emphasize the clean lines of the interior. Jochen Stumpf, developer of the interior lighting systems, explains: “Here we worked with light guides, LED modules and diffusers. The light guides disperse the light, while the diffuser spreads it so that it appears as a thin line on the console.” Indirect ambient lighting under the panoramic MMI display and in the doors further emphasizes the interior architecture. As a new design element, the front doors are now optionally available with wide-area lighting. Stumpf adds: “To achieve this effect, over 300 diamond-shaped cuts of different sizes are laser-cut into the fabric panel. A light source in the door trim illuminates the segments which, due to their different sizes, show a dynamic lighting progression – even when opening and closing the Q3.” Customers can choose between 30 different colors for a personalized lighting experience.

Virtually generated voice

Optional premium audio system SONOS offers an impressive listening experience with virtually generated sound. Twelve high-performance speakers, including a center speaker and subwoofer, deliver powerful sound with a maximum amplifier power of 420 W. Volker Zeman from product marketing explains: “The targeted use of sound reflections creates a surround effect that intensifies the spatial perception of sound. Thanks to intelligent signal processing, every passenger can enjoy a listening experience tailored to their seat.”

Four preset sound profiles (neutral, concert, lounge and podcast) are available, plus a customizable sound profile. Customers can further enhance their listening experience with features that can be added at any time via Functions on Demand (FoD)The Sound Feature Pack adds three additional features: bass intensification, automatic volume adjustment, and music revitalization of compressed files.

Sustainably designed interior

A total of nine equipment packages are available. Fast-growing and durable wood is used for the wooden applications. Fabric interior elements Imprint are made from 100% recycled polyester, as are the Passage, Impressum, plain weave and microfiber upholstery fabrics. All textile and microfiber seat covers are designed with monomaterial, so that they can later be easily recycled as single-origin materials in the circular economy, eliminating waste and significantly reducing the carbon footprint. Audi produces velour carpets using econyl, a fully recycled nylon thread made from old fishing nets, carpet scraps and industrial waste. In this way, Audi focuses on efficient and sustainable use of resources in the Audi Q3 as well.
