In the current version 97 of Google's Chrome and the free Chromium project, search engines installed by default cannot be simply hidden in 'Settings', as reported by Golem.de.

There used to be a simple delete option that could be used with 2 clicks, but it no longer appears.


The browser provider originally wanted to take this step to prevent users from accidentally deleting it.
