"I am anxious, I acted in a fit of emotion, I am in a difficult financial situation," Gjesti's words before the court are revealed

Singer Besart Kelmendi, known as Gjesti, stated before the court that he committed the alleged acts in an emotional state and apologized for the incident.
In the Prosecutor's Office file provided by "Oath for Justice", Gjesti apologized to the injured party and the court, saying that he had taken all his actions in a fit of emotion.
"I agree with my lawyer's statement, I want to inform the court that I am anxious, I acted in a state of emotion. I apologize to the court, the prosecutor, and the injured party," Kelmendi declared during the hearing.
Meanwhile, his defense has opposed the Prosecution's request for pre-trial detention, arguing that there is no risk of the criminal offense recurring, reports "Oath for Justice".
Kelmendi's lawyer stated that, according to life experience and psychology, when a person reacts impulsively, usually after a short time there is no risk of the same action being repeated.
According to him, the fact that this case has caused a great public outcry and that the suspect is aware that an investigation is underway against him should also be taken into account.
The defense also emphasized that, based on Article 159 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kosovo, which establishes the principle of proportionality in the determination of security measures, detention would not be a proportional measure. According to Artan Qerkini, defense attorney for Gjesti, the first two offenses for which Kelmendi is suspected carry a penalty of up to one year in prison or a fine.
The defense has also informed the court that their client is willing to enter into a plea agreement, emphasizing that this would mitigate procedural risks.
Lawyer Qerkini added that ordering pre-trial detention would also worsen Kelmendi's financial situation, emphasizing that he has not performed for a while due to family issues and has not received income from the "Onima" company regularly.
The Basic Court in Pristina has ordered a one-month detention order for singer Besart Kelmendi, suspected of the criminal offenses of intimidation, damage to property and illegal possession of a weapon.
According to court documents, during the arrest, a Radikal RP-X9 weapon, caliber 9 mm, with serial number TK 934-24A02839, as well as a magazine with 14 cartridges of caliber 9×19 mm, was seized from the defendant.
The incident is suspected to have occurred on March 11, 2026, at around 14:50 p.m., at the premises of the "Onima" studio in Veternik, Pristina.
According to witness statements given to the police, Kelmendi entered the building and began looking for the company director. The witness with the initials AK stated that the suspect demanded that the director be called and threatened to break the computers if he did not appear. At one point, according to him, Kelmendi hit a computer and then took a gun out of his bag, which he held in his hand for a short time and then put in his pocket.
Witness EH stated that he had heard screams and noise in the building and after he had gone outside he had seen Kelmendi. He said that he had tried to calm him down and send him to the office, but according to him, the suspect continued to scream and look for the owner of the company, threatening to kill him.
Meanwhile, witness LS stated that she saw Kelmendi telling the workers to leave and then breaking computers, while kicking one of them. According to her, he was holding a gun in his hand and said he would destroy the building, while he also broke several windows during the incident.
Witness EH also stated that while she was at work she had heard threats directed at the company director, saying that if he did not show up immediately, she would kill him and break all the equipment.
For these reasons, the court has decided that Besart Kelmendi be sentenced to one month's detention, which runs from March 11 to April 9, 2026.
The Oath for Justice reported on Thursday, March 13, 2026, that the entire incident took place near the offices of the "Onima" studio, the cause of which is suspected to be a dispute over a previous debt, where the singer, armed with a gun, went to the studio offices and asked for the injured party, E.Sh., addressing the staff with the words "where are you, I'm going to kill you."
Otherwise, the Police on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of Gjesti. Meanwhile, PROSECUTOR announced that he was detained for 48 hours and is suspected of three criminal offenses.Oath for Justice/
