"From Vlora of Albania" - El Pais with a special article about the success of the engineer Mira Murati, considered one of the most influential women in the world
The prestigious French newspaper "El Pais” has dedicated a special article to the Albanian engineer Mira Murati, who a few weeks ago was selected by the Financial Times as one of the 25 most powerful women in the world.
El Pais describes in this article Murat's incomparable journey and success in the field of Artificial Intelligence technology, Telegrafi reports.
The Albanian engineer who is the head of technology in the OpenAI company, is described by the French newspaper as one of the few women who possesses this power that is traditionally dominated by men.
Murat from Vlora, Albania has been one of the main actors in OpenAI, a company that few knew about a year ago, and today sets the pace in the AI industry, El Pais writes.
As Chief Technology Officer, Murati oversaw the team that developed the ChatGPT chatbot, the most successful app in history, as well as the DALL-E image generation tool.
Her name, according to the newspaper, was the first to be considered to replace Sam Altman in the CEO position when the board fired him three weeks ago, which was reversed after several days of drama.
Murat was one of four people who founded the OpenAI company, including Altmamin, Ilya Sutskever, and Greg Brockman.
She had briefly held the position of CEO at OpenAI, although she was part of the initiative to bring back her former boss.
The Albanian-born executive has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Dartmouth College, the American university where the discipline of AI was born.
Before coming to OpenAI, she was an analyst at Goldman Sachs, an engineer at French aerospace company Zodiac Aerospace, a product manager at Tesla, where she oversaw the Model X vehicle, and vice president of product at Leap Motion, a company that virtual reality.
In 2018, she made the move to OpenAI because her knowledge of AI made her think that general artificial intelligence (exceeding human capabilities) was close to becoming a reality.
She wanted to be part of its development, she said in an interview published by Wired. /Telegraph/
